So, um. Sam Jackson as Nick Fury. Really. That’s. That’s the casting you’re going with. I. Huh.

I mean, I love Sam, I think he’s the rockingest thing ever. And, y’know, I totally think people who bitch about there being a lack of good roles for any given ethnicity need to shut the fuck up, because hi, if you need a role to be written specifically for your skin color — you are not just a lousy actor, but an asshat and kind of racist. So, hey, yeah, normally, I’m all for not letting things like that stop you.

Its just. With comic book characters, the look is as much the chara as anything they say or do. And some things are fluid, like costume or hairstyle, and then you have some charas who have just….never changed. They are defined by their visual, in a way. Possibly because comic books are 100% visual, I don’t know. Whatever it is, it just feels kind of ham-handed to cast someone so very not Nick Fury as Nick Fury. And my brain is probably going to keep going, “No, seriously, Sam? As Nick Fury? Seriously?” right up until I actually see him do it.

And then it will be gleeing and “Hi, Sam!” and revelling in his coolness, because did I meantion? I love me some Sam fucking Jackson.
