So, I saw the video for u2’s new song, and I think I speak for us all when I say, “……..okay, so what the hell what that?!”

I mean…no, really, what the hell WAS that? First…not really liking the song. This may change after repeated hearings, it may go back and forth, I may simply find that I hate it more with each passing play. But at the moment…not impressed. And second…the video looked like something I would’ve come up with when I was fourteen and had such an erection for Larry that I thought his fucking feet were cute. Except even then, I’m pretty sure I could’ve come up with something better than “Larry and a poorly-done mermaid.”

That was it. That was the video. Larry-and-mermaid spliced together with shots of the band playing. Which was largely just close-up shots of Bono doing his “I’m singing, really” video faces. In black and white. I can almost hear the director telling them that it’ll be sooooo ARTSY! Yeah. Artsy. Pretentious director speak for “ASS! ….sans color.”
