BELOVED AOI

VERSION : Sunshine and Rain
DURATION : Summer 2001
EXPANSION : The S1 finale of Queer as Folk was just...traumatic. Especially since, somewhere along the line, Justin had grown to be one of my favorite characters. This was my attempt at self-therapy. The, um. The blues are nice.

VERSION : Solitary Dragon
DURATION : October 2001 - March 2002
EXPANSION : In an effort to cheer me up late one night, my friend Michael went on a search for GW slash for me. He found a lovely little site that had doujinshi scans, primarily Trowa/Quatre, but also a small section of Trowa/Wufei. I was a bit hesitant, being a devout Wufei/Duo groupie, but I looked anyway. And I saw this beautiful, sad image of Wu-chan, and had to save it. The image did all the work, really. I just sat there and watched it pull the layout together on its own. I'm still kind of in love with it.

VERSION : Punk Rock Prom Queen
DURATION : 03.17.02 - 06.11.02
EXPANSION : Um. I think the image is from the *Nsync TV Guides that happened...whenever they happened. I hadn't yet been sucked in at the time, so I just rolled my eyes and shoved the whole thing from my mind. Fast forward a year or so, to when I am suddenly, madly addicted to the plastic, bass-voiced beauty that is dear Mr. Bass. I find this image. I dimly recall the TV Guide covers, but who cares, because its LANCE and he's wearing black leather and blue snake-print, and Clockwork Orange makeup, and do you have any idea how many *Nsync wallpapers bear the phrase "Punk Rock Prom Queen" on them? Its sick, people, it really is. So of course, I had to use it.

VERSION : Happy Is As Happy Does
DURATION : 08.25.02 - 09.10.02
EXPANSION : This one kind of came out of nowhere. Among the GE|=|T ML's group files is a clip of a song AJ had done for possible inclusion on the next Backstreet album. It was labeled simply "AJ's Happy Song" and well...the next thing I knew, this had happened. *shrugs*

VERSION : (i think the Aoi's gone crazy)
DURATION : 09.11.02 - 10.05.02
EXPANSION : I had this picture of Eminem in a straightjacket that I had just been DYING to use for something (it didn't lay right for my preferred skinning methods), and Mel said "domain." She also came up with the idea of making it look like the navigation was scrawled on the floor. Not sure how well I carried it out, but by then I'd been listening to Em and Hailie on "My Dad's Gone Crazy" for about two days straight. I'm amazed my brain hasn't trickled out my ear yet.

VERSION : In This Strange Place
DURATION : 10.06.02 - 10.29.02
EXPANSION : Our first "where" layout, featuring a photograph by Tom Till. This is easily the prettiest layout the Aoi has ever had...so of course it didn't even survive a month.

VERSION : Everything I Touch Turns Britney
DURATION : 10.30.02 - 11.18.02
EXPANSION : A gift from Des. I liked it because it was a gift, and it was Britney (and yes, the version title did come directly from something I said to Des), but at the same time, I felt uncomfortable having it up. I guess I just feel like the homestead should be the one place that's always designed by me.

VERSION : I Just Wanna Take You Home
DURATION : 11.19.02 - 11.26.02
EXPANSION : The Sci-Fi Channel stole my soul, and sold it to Lance Bass. He, apparently, is selling off stock in it to finance his trip to space. And yes, that is my explanation for this.

VERSION : Blue Girl Tuesday
DURATION : 11.27.02 - 12.14.02
EXPANSION : I'm not really sure how it came out looking like a video game character. I like it, tho.

VERSION : The Night the Aoi Stole Christmas
DURATION : 12.15.02 - 12.31.02
EXPANSION : I thought if I made an attempt at having Christmas spirit, I might actually acquire some. I'm a tool, what can I say.

VERSION : Boys on the Side
DURATION : 01.01.03 - 01.15.03
EXPANSION : Um. There are boys. On the sides. Yeah.

VERSION : God Bless the South
DURATION : 01.16.03 - 02.09.03
EXPANSION : Blah blah blah pervert blah blah objectifying the female body blah blah wrong blah blah. Just lick it already.

VERSION : Every Passing Fad
DURATION : 02.10.03 - 04.19.03
EXPANSION : I love RENT. I love Mark. I love Joey. I love Joey as Mark in RENT. This was really kind of a natural progression.

VERSION : Elf Love
DURATION : 04.20.03 - 04.30.03
EXPANSION : I needed cheering for my birthday. Chris drew the short straw. Poor Elf.

VERSION : Let's Hear It for The Boy
DURATION : 05.01.03 - 05.31.03
EXPANSION : Lance turned 24 on May 4th. ..........that's all.

VERSION : Elf Love (The Summer Rerun)
DURATION : 06.01.03 - 09.09.03
EXPANSION : The rest of the world shows repeats during the summer. At least mine has Chris Kirkpatrick.

VERSION : Well She Was Just (version) 17
DURATION : 09.10.03 - 11.24.03
EXPANSION : I think the best explanation for this is, "..........*shrugs* brain fart?"

VERSION : A Guy Like You Should Wear a Warning
DURATION : 11.25.03 - 04.18.04
EXPANSION : RANSH! In a KILT! And, sadly, you can't see it in that shot, but he even had a little faux sporran. Happily, you can see the Bass Ass, lovingly draped in folds of arctic camo. Mmmmm, Baaaaaass Ass....

VERSION : There is No Beautiful
DURATION : 04.19.04 - 12.17.04
EXPANSION : Its very blue. And there's a little blue. So I thought, I should add some blue. And then I used blue to tie it all together. Also? Blue.

VERSION : Santa Baby
DURATION : 12.18.04 - 01.05.05
EXPANSION : Dear Santa - Forget the presents, it you could just leave SaraMi under the tree in a red ribbon, that'd be great. Love always, me.

VERSION : Pieces Of
DURATION : 01.06.05 - 05.25.07
EXPANSION : Originally, this was going to be like, a gradient, with all the text in the middle, and only one box, where the navigation was. Only, y'know, gradients tend to look gross on a large scale. So then it was just one shade, and I added a bigger box for more interest, and it was still just. so. hideously. boring. A quick flip through my picture folders found a particular shot of Ashlee Simpson, and the rest, as they don't say at all, is a layout. (PS - I'm freakishly proud of the blend I did for the splash logo. WOO!)

VERSION : Simplification
DURATION : Current
EXPANSION : Its...its very...what's word? Y'know, not red, or yellow, but...when they want to make green, they use that thing, what is it? Oh, right! Blue.
